One of the last words Jesus spoke before He died was towards his mother and his apostle John. As stated in John 19:26-27, "When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing beside her, he said to his mother, ‘Woman, here is your son.’ Then he said to the disciple, ‘Here is your mother.’ And from that hour the disciple took her into his own home."
Jesus’ final words were not solely directed towards Mary and John, but to everyone! There are many ways we can connect with Mary during this month, and here is a list to help you get started!
1.) Walking with the Rosary.
Since spring is here, get outside and spend some time with our Mother. A simple pray while sitting in a garden is such a beautiful experience, however, walking and enjoying nature, while praying the rosary is soothing to the soul.
However, it can be hard throughout your busy day to take a walk. However, get into the habit of praying the Rosary every day. Start small. You don't have to finish the Rosary at once, ponder on its glory. Pray the 5 decades throughout the day or week, in no time you’ll finish the rosary at your pace.
2.) Read the Bible.
Sitting down to a bible study is another way to connect with Mary. We can learn a lot about Mary from the scripture, from how to embody her to her relationship with God.
Listed below are scriptures where Our Blessed Mother resonates in…when reading, ask yourself, What can you learn from Mary's actions? How can you emulate her in your everyday life?
Luke 1:26-38
Luke 1:39-56
Luke 2:1-20
Luke 2:22-38
Luke 2:41-52
John 2: 1-12
John 19:26-27
Acts 1:14
3.) Decorate your home.
From planting a Garden to making an Alter, welcome Mary by having her image and rosary beads present in your home. An altar dedicated to Mary can be simple, yet stunning. It can be placed on your bedside, coffee table, or in your dining room, and have an assigned space to reflect and pray. The altar can include a statue, candles, framed pictures, prayer books, flowers, and of course, a rosary.
Last, when it comes to gardening, it doesn’t have to be elaborate, no gardening experience is required. Having a small yard, or a big pot will help get the job done. Simply plant some flowers in large pots or in a small space in your yard. Then, tuck a statue of Our Blessed Mother among the flowers.
I hope these tips will help you with your journey to having a strong relationship with our Heavenly Mother.
